In light of... everything, I have decided two things. First, I'm not going to Monaco. Despite having all of my documents up to date and correct, I can't trust that a customs agent won't reject them- just because- and have me detained. They have that authority. 2/7

Besides, any exposure to cop or cop-adjacent people just seems like a bad idea right now. Also, I can't trust that my passport won't be invalidated between now and then, and I need to have a replacement ready to go when that happens. 3/7

For many of the same reasons, I have decided that it will be safer for me to drive to Las Vegas rather than to fly. It's 1,000 miles, but I can break it up into two manageable chunks with a stopover in Boise, which is relatively safe. 4/7

That being said, I will be traveling through eastern Oregon (notoriously hostile), southwestern Idaho (it's Idaho-- 'nuff said) and the entire length of eastern Nevada (?? but probably not great). 5/7

I will be carrying extra provisions: non-perishable food, water, a human element range extender (aka a pee bottle), blankets, a road atlas, extra gas, and melee weapons. I hope for an event-free trip, but I won't expect it. I will have every gas stop (down to the station) planned before I leave. 6/7

This might sound like a lot, but it's what feels necessary. I refuse to give up and hide in a basement somewhere (yet), but I refuse to become the next headline. 7/7
