i think the furry community should forced to read this part eyes-held-open a-la clockwork orange, because the “wholesome bean uwu no pawlitics no drama” attitude a lot of this community holds is allowing fascists to infiltrate us and spread hate, as well as allowing abusers to keep hurting people.

FUUUUUUUCK
Do you REALLY want reactionaries in the furry community acting as useful idiots for grifters?
i think we're at the point where furries cannot escape politics; our very existence now holds some power. by choosing not to engage in it, we deny our voices, our ability to form coalitions, and the fact that we are Seen.
This past year or so I've had to end a couple friendships.
When you go "uwu, no dwama" it's telling the world you don't take out the garbage in your life. You become a haven for the worst people to fester and it lets fascists double down.
It really seemed to capture a notion I haven't been able to fully materialize in my own thoughts
Not just that, but also the "don't challenge my beliefs" people, who toxify any space they're in
I don't think people should feel comfortable.
Though other thing is that "belonging" and hierarchy and being special thing
It's something I've not been able to articulate in "leftist" spaces where "identifying as left" is sufficient and questioning them is verboten
But a lot of people are rebranding ignorance and apathy as comfortable self-care, and using that to absolve themselves of responsibility.
People SHOULD be afraid. They SHOULD be uncomfortable.
And they should DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
Fuck comfortability. Fuck vibes. Fuck self-care. I'd rather tear myself apart right now than wait in ignorant bliss for the world to do it for me.
curious.
capsize that motherfucker. split that bitch in half and send it to the bottom of the ocean.
it's probably time to find a new place to call home.
it's surreal, and unnerving, how many of those people were my abusers
At the end of the day, if you voted for Trump, you voted against the rights of me and many other people I care about.
Kicking shitheads like fascists and abusers out of the fandom and throwing them to the curb is what makes communities actually comfortable and safe in the long run.
