I never said it wasn't sensible. What I said was the Labour government ran on a pledge to raise taxes and were elected, something you incredulously said never happens.

Yes. That's what Starmer campaigned on. He pledged not to raise taxes on working people. Don't you think that implies they would be raised elsewhere?

He would have pledged "no tax rises whatsoever" if that was his intended policy platform.

So not saying that you're not going to raise a certain tax, whilst saying over and over again that you're not going to raise the main taxes constitutes 'a pledge to raise taxes'. Gotcha.
