I never said it wasn't sensible. What I said was the Labour government ran on a pledge to raise taxes and were elected, something you incredulously said never happens.

So not saying that you're not going to raise a certain tax, whilst saying over and over again that you're not going to raise the main taxes constitutes 'a pledge to raise taxes'. Gotcha.

He would have pledged "no tax rises whatsoever" if that was his intended policy platform.
Pledging to raise taxes in the party's GE manifesto is exactly that.
