This is a must-read article by @brockm.bsky.social about the evolution of an idea promoted by techo-libertarians "that democracy is not just inefficient, but fundamentally incompatible with technological progress."

It's a complete and total blasphemous b******* misinterpretation of what democracy is. And also if it wasn't for democracy there would be no technological progress
I am a former tech trainer from SF. I have printed this article in its entirety. Highlighting and margin notations are helping me create a synopsis for my non-techie friends. Best article I have ever read. And reread. Wow!
I have far more questions about folk who keep learning more about what libertarian goals and results actually ARE, and continue to identify with the identity term, personally, instead of engaging in self-reflection, frankly.
Whoa, in only 1/3 of the way into this story, and I had to stop on this to highlight it. Seems like Zuckerberg has been on this Zero Hedge theory for a while.
Governing the people using algorithms is on Twilight Zone level messed up.
In a normal world, these people would be locked up.
I would think this entirely line of thinking is absolutely insane conspiracy theory but they have receipts. Similar theme from this youtube video, which, warning, will keep you up at night https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RpPTRcz1no
Weekends are really bad for Democracy since January 2025. When Americans leave their government jobs on Friday at 5, the wrecking crew comes in. They spend the weekend guzzling energy drinks, eating take out pizza, and inserting themselves into “protected” software!
Democracy is being deleted in slow motion, replaced by proprietary technology and AI models. It is a coup, executed not with guns, but with backend migrations and database wipes.
The goal isn’t just to change who runs government agencies—it’s to fundamentally transform how power operates, shifting it from democratic institutions to technical systems controlled by a small elite.
Government functions that once belonged to democratically accountable institutions are already being transferred to proprietary AI systems, optimized not for justice or equality, but for efficiency and control.
J.D. Vance has studied Curtis Yarvin’s work. Peter Thiel, his longtime patron, has been funding this vision for over a decade. Balaji Srinivasan is writing the blueprint. Elon Musk is laying the infrastructure.
This is a very small club of elites against a sprawling country of over 300 million inhabitants and twice as many guns. Do they assume we will just submit to mass suffering and an upending to life as we know it? I have a radical idea: let's eliminate billionaires. It's more, ahem, efficient.

Where did you work as a tech trainer, BITD?

I'm surprised Zuckerberg isn't mentioned since he is basically using a model of this idea with META.
META is equally as dangerous as TikTok. 🤨
These people really scare me.
