Sometimes people will ask me what they can do right now, today, to help. I always say to volunteer or donate to:
1. Food pantries/soup kitchens
2. DV shelters
3. Abortion funds
These places are always in need of money and people willing to help out if they have time and capacity.

A good friend of mine runs an abortion fund & during a conversation this weekend, she broke down. The past few years [especially the last 2] have been BRUTAL for funds. The need and demand has skyrocketed and the funding has not. Workers & volunteers at funds have to turn many people away.

and yes, definitely do a subscription if you can. that lets them work your donation into their budget, which helps their buying power
He $20 I’m trying to give them will do so much more than the shitty can of beans I’d donate
food banks are overflowing with near/post best before date cans!
plus, the $1.35 you spent on one can would equal them buying 4 cans because of buying power
The one near me manages a community garden and provides gift certificates to local markets to expand their offerings. Fantastic resource.
that's cool with the community garden.
as a regular food bank recipient I don't need more dry pasta I need more vegetarian protein options (lol good luck)
