Seconding this. I've been home with my 7yo dog all day and I haven't seen him once. If he was a human child I would probably be in jail.

Getting a pet just because you think you need “practice” before having a kid is a terrible reason to get a pet, is unfair to the pet and will absolutely not prepare you for parenthood.
