Big NO to PR. FPTP is a terrible system, but it at least keeps extreme political impulses out of government. The closest we ever came was Johnson, and the system expelled him pretty sharpish.

PR is like Brexit, said to fix everything, but the only thing it fixes is a free meal ticket for Farage.

No. That’s not how PR works. Current parties fragment. Voters migrate to competence (mostly).

They got a much bigger share of the vote than that. The whole rationale of PR is to address the “vast majority with 33% of the vote” anomaly. The minority parties will become more powerful, even small ones can become King Makers and we get fascism by the back door

Agree that’s a risk unless propaganda via algorithm is dealt with, but look at NZ, Aus and many others. Lots of voices said “fascist casting vote kingmakers” would arise, and they don’t. The sensible majority gang up and crush them.

Countries with PR are being drowned in fascism today. France and Germany to name two. PR is not the answer - yet.
