alastor crying in learning curve is super important to me btw!! I personally don't think he would EVER, especially as immediate response to something. I think he's more inclined to lash out, have a manic breakdown, and/or repress shit to the rafters

but being in charlie's body seemed like a unique opportunity... in my mind it shows that he does experience emotions that would cause someone who *isn't him* to cry. it's less about charlie's body being "emotional" and more about his being devoid
his feelings trigger a reaction that he isn't used to, and one that he perhaps doesn't understand as being healthy/normal. he's surprised that beneath his usual lash out/breakdown/repression, there is, in fact, sadness
he then lashes out to counteract this and return to something familiar!
it must be the BIGGEST whiplash for him, too, not only emotionally shocking but like the amount of trauma and pain and everything hitting him at *once*
yes yes yes, alastor's doing GREAT until he lands himself a body that hasn't numbed itself to emotional cues or been trained to bite back any physical reaction. maybe he's been smothering any trace of hurt for so long that he doesn't even know he still feels it
