At the end of the day what matters is who has (1) the guns, who has (2) the money & who (3) controls access to information.
The US Government has 1 and 2.
Big Tech brings 2 and 3.
The geopolitical consequences write themselves.

It is terrible that this is how the US will now uses its dwindling international credibility - propping up misinformation, rather than issues like climate change - but good chance this will also backfire. MTG not exactly a compelling diplomat.

As for money its value can go up and it can go down. US has so far dollar as world preferred currency. This is not set in stone.
Access to information is the biggest issue. Paradoxically it affects us in the West the most
