going straight from deltarune chapter 1 into chapter 2 really underscores how rough around the edges chapter 1 is. like it's definitely a "pilot episode" for the rest of the game. at the time it was great just to have more toby fox stuff but it's so much weaker in light of chapter 2's glowup - ThreadSky

i wouldn't expect it, but that would make it quite a sweet treat if it actually happened. as long as, of course, toby foxcuses on making chapters 5-7 as good as he needs them to be first before going back to redo old work

i wouldn't be surprised by this just because chapter 2 makes (admittedly minor) mechanical changes to sparing enemies that are currently kind of awkwardly explained by an in game book there

We haven't even gotten the elemental system yet, it's clear the game's being reworked and expanded as it goes, and chapter 1 was already changed with the ch. 2 release, so yeah

i'd forgotten how barebones the card kingdom was, with the card kingdom's featureless two-color void being probably the most disappointing area in the game. in comparison to cyber city and queen's mansion it looks even worse lol

and queen and spamton having so much more narrative presence than king and jevil really helped make the story more engaging, whereas the main narrative draw in chapter 1 was basically just susie's arc (to be clear, it was a fantastic arc) and there wasn't much else to hang your hat on otherwise

it's really no surprise that chapter 2 was where the story and the fandom really exploded in scope and scale—chapter 2 put so much fucking meat on the bone and the undertale fandom is a swarm of piranhas capable of skeletonizing a cow in a matter of seconds
