talking to @snackerfork.bsky.social last night we hit on dess and chara having so many parallels in the way the violent suddenness of their absence has left this open wound in the story that everyone sorta has to tiptoe around because it hurts so much

sometimes i think about asriel's last conversation with frisk in the true pacifist ending. the idea of chara listening in, hearing asriel tell frisk they "weren't really the greatest person" (which, okay, fair) and that "they [frisk] were the friend he always wanted."
