Audi does this. You have different models, A4, A6, Q5, Q7, etc and each model has Plus, Premium, and Prestige trims. Dell's breakdown makes sense to me and is following common patterns

Except does Audi have two different categories rolled into one? So the Inspiron (garbage) and Inspiron Plus (also garbage) are part of the Dell and Dell Plus tier. But the XPS is now the Dell Premium. Yet the other two tiers don’t do that. It’s a mess and dumb.

Well I know nothing about Dell's different tier levels, but from your reply if you had omitted the (garbage) and (also garbage) and said "The Inspiron is now Dell Base, Inspiron Plus is Dell Plus, and XPS is Dell Premium" it would have been clear to me that the Inspiron was the worst model

But they are under the moniker “Dell” — they don’t have similar designs. This isn’t going to be useful to people where before you at least said “Inspiron, XPS, Lattitude, Precision, etc” — simplify the stupid names for equally stupid names. Fine!
