While it's scary that Musk will get into the US Treasury payment system to "influence" who gets paid, another scarier possibility is that he will break the system with his tinkering. The system cannot afford to go down. Musk should have no access to sensitive Treasury payment systems.

Don't be comforted by that. If you off load that read only access data to something else "read only" can easily be changed to "write". Then you just put that back into the system after you make your changes, usually in back up to fuck with the change logs.
