It does feel like there's a persistent refusal to acknowledge that in the process of politicizing people in the U.S. everyone will, invariably, start where they're at.

Which is what got us into interminable decades of neoliberal capitalism & neoconservative social decay, invariably leading to stagnation and the rise of fascism.
Getting people to give up F150s in favor of mix zoning urbanism & trains, simple queer acceptance, basic socialism, etc all get balked.
Then, ironically, meeting people where they're at leaves us with Harris 2024: no new ideas, tax credits, pretending Israel isn't committing genocide, no end to qualified immunity, no public health option, no minimum wage increase, literally nothing.
People had Bernie Sanders as an option not once, but TWICE. He grabbed people from where they're at. He's still taking trips to states to profess. If someone like him, who is actually broadly liked and trusted, can't get in, what's left? When and what is magically gonna surpass him and get results?
