If you do have a money box instead of a sling bag/fanny pack make sure it is always in your view and do not leave it close to the edge of the table or anywhere that can be easily reached! Theft is a real thing at cons!

Yes absolutely! I personally use a fanny pack and never let it leave my body and will always recommend using them over a cash box if folks have the option.
