If you don’t mind old stuff (and you might have already seen these) and like lighter crime/drama, maybe Poirot, especially the earlier episodes. I also like the old and some of the newer Miss Marple, Jeremy Brett’s Sherlock Holmes, also Midsomer Murders. I liked Vera and Shetland, but def darker.
brett is the best sherlock (well, maaaaybe even with Cumberbatch), but there’s also some stuff you have to be willing to overlook (was typical for the times). midsomer murders is great, some dark themes but treated lightly (if that makes sense).
i didn’t finish lewis, i’m putting that on my list!
I like: Good Omens, Interview with the Vampire, Around the World in 80 Days, Staged, Killing Eve, There She Goes, Gilmore Girls, ATLA, The Umbrella Academy, The Ark.
I’m in the mood for a drama, something easy to watch, no psych thrillers.
I’ve seen (some) Doctor Who as well
I loved Timeless so much. It’s a shame NBC cancelled it. I get that it’s an expensive production and probably more suited for a cable network like HBO, but still.
I will always & forever recommend Murder, She Wrote because it’s awesome and Angela Lansbury is AMAZEBALLS. It’s like Sherlock Holmes with a sassy widow instead of a druggy as the crime solver.
I’m watching it now and it’s so good!! It’s a great comfort show. And the guest stars are very fun bc you’ll get like young Levar Burton and it’s like time traveling 😂
There’s a cool story about how Angela Lansbury used to get all these old actors guest spots on the show so they could keep their health insurance & stuff from the actor’s union. There are quite a few really young actors though that you’re like wait was that???
she was such a solid example of using ones power for good. and i LOVED that show. iy, columbo, and ellery queen were my fave mysteries back in thevday)
Father Brown is a delight. BBC Merlin is phenomenal. Did you ever watch Rivals? David was the pull for me, but the show was stunning. I've plenty of animated & anime to recc if you like that. I would love to get you into The X-Files but I don't know if that would be your jam. A Discovery of Witches!
Godless, Wynona Earp, and Longmire are fantastic. Ted Lasso is so, so, so good. Sex Education is hilarious. I've only seen the first season, but I enjoyed The Empress. Lost in Space remains a favorite, and the ending was actually really good (which is always a concern with Netflix shows).
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is BRILLIANT but you probably need to be a Godzilla fan to enjoy it. I dunno, maybe not? Probably need some prior knowledge. Loki was also really, really good. Psych has got it all, and it's a fucking laugh from start to finish.
If you like musicals I must recommend Galavant, even if it was cruelly denied a third season. It's a great laugh, as well. Very silly, great music, to die for casting.
YASSSS!!! OMG I shout the amazingness of Galavant at the top of my lungs and in all caps!!
I quote it and sings the songs all the time. All. The. Time.
It's one of my favorite shows. So underrated. Still mad it never got a third season, such a missed opportunity! Tim Omundson, who played Richard, is in Psych!
If you don't mind bad special effects, especially in the first season, I do recommend BBC's Merlin! It has its issues, but drama and easy watch are a check, it's funny, and I need you to be as obsessed with Colin Morgan as I am 😂
I for some reason never finished Robin Hood, but I greatly enjoyed the episodes I did watch! (To the point where I almost put it in my recommendation up there anyway 😂)
Heartfelt insane comedy-Extraordinary
Both versions of Ghosts! They're both good
The ultimate feelgood- Ted Lasso
Great horror storytelling-The Terror
If you liked Lost but horror-From
Mystery sci-fi-Silo
For a relatively low-stakes goofy laugh: Resident Alien. Alan Tudyk is always great and the show has lots of Native rep.
Intense and witchy-Yellowjackets
BBC mystery that hasn't already been mentioned-Midsomer Murders
If you liked OFMD- Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin

The only ones of these I haven’t seen are Jeremy Brett’s Sherlock Holmes and Midsomer Murders.
I second all these! And Inspector Lewis too!
i didn’t finish lewis, i’m putting that on my list!

The new Lost in Space (Netflix) was also really good.
Big Sky is an easy watch.
Peaky Blinders is amazing.
Penny Dreadful is hella dark and heavy, but also veeeery good. (For future reference)
Black Sails is so fucking good. Also a bit heavy, but not a psych thriller.
Tracker is okay, but Justin Hartley and Jensen Ackles are pretty to cover up the lazy writing.
Gotham…was not good. But Harley Quinn is amazing.
And yeah for the younger ones too, like there was one with young Courtney Cox 😮
I quote it and sings the songs all the time. All. The. Time.
It just flew too close to the sun…
Dragon John Hurt ✔️
In that same vein…also Robin Hood. Love me some Richard Armitage.
Heartstopper !
His Dark Materials
