working in retail is bizarre because you’ll be doing something and a customer will just stand like this 🧍🏼♀️ in front of you waiting to get your attention instead of saying excuse me

My first job/retail job (if you could call it that) was pushing shopping carts at WalMart
Combine a shitty parking lot with people who don't know how to drive with people who don't see the line of 20 shopping carts venturing the lot...
I was nearly getting run over on the daily and I hated it all
I used to feel guilty for bothering retail workers, but I think a good compromise is “can I ask you a quick question?” And go from there. No awkwardness.
Yes! This is what I do too ~ if someone’s in the middle of something I don’t want to hassle them. Now I have no idea what to do… maybe I’ll just never go in a shop again 😅
Bro, nah, this is such a mood! Especially since I work alone on night shift, it's like all eyes are on me, and the customers would stand in front of the register and trace me with their vision like one of those creepy dolls. It's wild!
It's either the staring or my favorite is when there's clearly close signs in front of the only other register in my store adhd they ask which one I'm on.

I don't have that cuz my store is a 24/7 one but I kind of do. I have to count down my register and get off before 3am, and sometimes customers would come in after I'm done counting down and be like, hey, are u able to check me out clearly knowing I can't at that time.
I've visited my former retail place to check in on my friends who still worked there and I get the opposite and people ask me questions as if I still work there.. But mgmt gets mad everytime I stopped by even to shop because I instinctively end up helping their customers.
