I wasn't called mature or independent but I remember a friends mom said I was 13 going on 30. I guess because I was more serious and reserved than her son was? Idek
Husband came home from his ADHD intake appt yesterday with a "They are going to test me for autism!" because assessments assess for everything, dear. It sent my self-diagnosed ass into a tizzy. He's getting assessed before me! (I've accepted being autistic and have no plans for official diagnosis.)
i only got medically diagnosed because it allowed for reasonable adjustment plans to be made at school! self diagnosis is valid and there’s no reason to go ahead with it when you’ve accepted the fact and you know yourself better than anyone else !
I had 3 of my 4 kids diagnosed so they could get accommodations. I would get diagnosed if I was younger. But yeah, it's kind of obvious to all of us that I am. Have been peer reviewed too many times to count now!
"He's so self-sufficient." That's right, mom, and all you had to do was hit it into me. It's almost as if I had to be self-sufficient because my primary caregivers were constantly failing me.
Holy shit this is the second time we have run into one another my feral friend! And I too was “gifted”and the eldest daughter! Are you also left handed??
No, I’m afraid not. But here’s some more facts to see if we “twin” on… I’m the oldest of 3 (6 years older than my brother and 9 years older than my sister), am 42 currently, and have had several distinctly different “careers” over my adult life.
I forgot to answer! But now I remembered. I have 1 younger sister by 2 years, we had the same parents, and then my dad had two sons much later that I barely know. Have degrees in biology and graphic design 😂
