Our last gas appliance broke last year (the hot water system). Victorian government subsidies allowed us to replace it with a cheaper heat-pump system for very little. And it's cheaper to run than the old gas system.

Convincing #AGL to actually terminate our gas supply account - THAT was painful.

Initially, they tried to convince me that we had to keep paying monthly service fees for as long as gas pipes and the meter were on our property. They quoted an outrageous price and over a year's wait to have those removed.

I kept escalating until I got to speak to someone sensible.
