Where this gets interesting is when monied interests actually switch to supporting wind or solar with the intent of shaping it into something centralised, hoarded and thermal-generation-esque (in terms of dispatch). Eg: this Saudi Aramco project (marketed under their Masdar subsidiary)

Mines usually have access roads which communities can easily block, so the companies can't ignore society entirely.
Oilfields? Strategic assets = barbed wire, guns. And offshore if possible.
