Reviews, especially on Goodreads, suck ass. Five stars has no room for nuance and so many “reviewers” can’t separate their own preferences from an objective review.

I never look at the ratings. lol I look at the cover and then read the preview chapter and then make my decision. With the amount of review bombing that has been out there, I don't trust ratings.

I feel like sometimes there’s too much pressure to aim for consuming the highest-quality media. Lots of good things have bad ratings. Lots of really fun things are objectively pretty low-quality. Take a risk on trash too!
