In arabic there is a saying that reflects “ignorance is bless” and it literally translates: “going from the heaven of ignorance to the hell of knowledge” and the past year just made me feel this on a visceral level

For a long time in my life I believed that ignorance is not bless. And that ignorance leads to bad consequences eventually, and is a door for unpleasant stuff to brew, like bigotry. But this concept slowly started to take a less black and white shape in my mind during the past year.
There is a fine line between having enough knowledge to empathise with others and understand conflicts on a deeper level, and between crashing out completely from knowing TOO MUCH.
it can easily become a really heavy burden that transcends your empathetic abilities and might very will lead to the person becoming either distant or cynical or very depressed.
That does not mean that we should not care or try to understand, but i realised it is important to not let this drown us into a vicious cycle of negative emotions, and that can be prevented if we accept the reality of how humanity works and that there are things that cannot be helped or changed.
