Governments don't push information. Social media and news media giants do, and they're all owned by corporations. Governments rely on these organizations to get their word out too.

The government has the power of the authorities and intelligence agencies. Corporations got hold of the power later. In fact, I dare to say, that the ones really in control are the big secret agencies, that holds most of the information with their unique tools, e.g tools for "hacking".
I would also argue that the intelligence agencies are more loyal to each other than they are their respective governments. Also, with the internet sprawling across the planet, no single nation polices that. AI enhanced social media algorithms are used to push agendas that drive democracies.
What you said, will be the most likely outcome by historians in 100 years or so. About AI, China and India are involved and Bard of Google of an Indian CEO is on board with the advancements. Right now, the politicians agenda is to push forwards an authoritarian regime proved by their behavior +
Absolutely. I think they're trying to retain control of a failing system and overall transform it into a new world order. I'm against any sort of centralized world government but I suppose a decentralized world organization would be good. We however need to educate people more so democracy works.
