Ofc China's economy will take a hit from the tariffs but I wonder how many auto makers are gonna straight up shut down plants in the US and relocate to... well, probably somewhere in Asia.

This is my area of professional expertise and I am not exaggerating when I say that roughly once every two weeks I hear about a new Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer pitching up in the UK because we have zero tariffs with them.
Tesla sales were number one but have dropped off a cliff too.
My favourite was BYD who did a massive presentation to us basically saying "Oh, you think you haven't heard of us? We've built all your power plants, mobile phones and trains for decades. Here's our extensive safety testing Tesla don't do. We start at 2/3rds their price. Lets save the planet."
Also, even if Trump weren't insanely bigoted and had kept all the 'DEI' stuff, the economic fuckery from tariffs alone will probably end up with Americans starving and jobless.
I am fucking terrified not just of what is going to happen here but also with the possible extent of the death rattle as the government lashes out at the rest of the world with it's dying breathe
hey in fairness it takes a lot of edibles and actively ignoring the 30th portent of doom a reporter reports as a “legal quirk” that week to stay this sane lol. more seriously america is maybe the most propagandized nation on earth, most wont even accept we can collapse till it happens
And many will deny that it actually has happened, like how some Americans insist that the USA has the best, most innovative healthcare in the world and everyone else's is expensive, restrictive and has months-long waiting lists
Tbh people are underestimating factors like Climate Change/diseases. I remember a friend of mine more than a decade ago were talking about a possible pandemic arising around 2030s and well we know what happened.
People dont seem to realize that the climate is *really* bad now atm.
Combine this with an inept state apparatus and that's pretty much a consistent recipe for any Collapse because 'Historically' that's always been the case
The best / most likely outcome is a move from the dollar to some kind of combined multinational currency bundle as the basis for global financial transactions (similar things exist). One big problem may be that the US is simply declining too fast for the smooth transition China would seem to want.
China wants a weaker America, so there are more global gaps to fill. China absolutely doesn't want a dying America, because then they're the only ones really left in the game. And China is not sociologically or financially ready to be the hegemon. China wants to compete with the US, not take over.
It’s never been clearer that Britain fucked itself with Brexit. Being not in the EU when it de dollarises, which it will eventually, is a horrific mistake for that country.
a lot of people in this county get all their news from cable, and no one is reporting on whats actually happening. a lot more people are too uneducated to understand or think its a good thing.
the rest are either too beaten down/poor/desperate to do anything or too liberal to take decisive action
cause like, people ARE protesting, and there's a shit ton of individual actions from hospital protests to outside the various governmental agencies and politicians.
but it needs cohesive leadership to direct the energy, and the Dems aren't that. so until someone steps up, there will be delays
honestly, DEI fuckery alone looks bad but isn't a significant impact in the short run, at least in a purely economic sense. That impact would take time to ripple through the various impacted fields.
but between tariffs, the impending bird flu announcement, and total fuckery with the treasury...
I didn't think to extend grace knowing this is a text-only medium and misunderstanding is easy until after I read a few more posts and looked over your profile when I should have opened with that.

why react at all when this is just the way it is?

Climate and Diseases go hand in hand that the former can make the latter more worse.

and a lot of people are gonna die between now and when a coherent opposition emerges, if it ever does.

No hard feelings. 💞
