One day of a small percentage of users not spending money on multi billion dollar franchises is not going to be effective. It’s a rounding error on their bottom line. 2 weeks to a month still may not be enough to even make their quarterly reports dip, let alone enough for their investors to worry.
We have to think bigger than single day blackouts. Find ways to cut them out of your finances entirely by shopping local or online small businesses, LGBTQ and BIPOC owned businesses, etc. Redirect purchases to businesses that support causes important to you, and how they donate to congress.
It’s often not possible to fully stop giving them your money, but stay committed to reduction. They’ve killed enough local businesses that sometimes they’re literally your only option. But even redirecting 25-50% and accepting occasional compromises is worth the effort. We can do this!
I am doing that. No more shopping at Amazon or Walmart and buying local when I can. It’s not always easy since o have to shop online since I’m housebound and can’t walk well enough to go out it to stores.
I just wish they hadn’t chosen the last business day in the month, which is cheque day for all those on social services.
We have no money now- It’s unrealistic to ask ♿️ in poverty to wait yet another day for food and other necessities.

We only get money at the end of the month. It’s unrealistic to cause us to wait 1 more day due to a shopping blackout.
I am disabled with an energy issue. I can only hold an item so long. If its not clearly marked then what?
Why put a blackout day on the day starving people get money?
Privilege.
Nothing. Only deep poverty and oppression and having $50 for groceries each week
So if a delivery fee is $25 am i going to do that?
People need to realize how poor those on odsp are
And, how disabled-
And how demoralizing it is to get judgmental replies like yours. @patbrown69.bsky.social I Do
Buy 🇨🇦
To add on to to what Wren is saying, Canadian options are usually more expensive depending on where you live. I think purchasing from American companies is equally as bad as purchasing from Canadian grocery ogligarchs. It should be a pick-your-poison thing.
Canadian prices are absolutely off the charts crazy. All our grocery stores are owned by 3 companies who have been caught price fixing. Something i need that is $8 at Walmart is $19.99 everywhere else.
NOW do people understand?
This blackout needs to be when we can ALL participate to be effective.
My thought is that if able-bodied/working class people want me to join them, they can go down to Queen's Park and protest until I have the means to join them. If they don't care about me and won't lift me up out of social eugenics, I won't lift them up. I'll focus on not-dying as my priority.
An understandable point.
And i get the sentiment.
Unfortunately, #MAGA is already here and their policies in the 🇺🇸 include that the #ChronicallyIll, #diabetic #mentallyIll, #autistic, (not even an illness imo), #down’sSyndrome, etc are all a “#CriticalThreat” to the healthy.
