I think that given the time-value is money, it’s pretty much where it’s always been. What is question is the existence and availability of base models.

I don't agree. Porches used to be "a bit more than a Corvette" and now they're twice as much. The fancy VW brand has gone bonkers with 911 pricing since they introduced volume crossovers as safe revenue generators.
I agree about the price creep up models, but given the fact that there is a waiting list, that doesn’t seem to deter the buyers. But I’ll disagree about it ever being priced a bit more than a Vette. I was always like 50%+ IMO. 🤷♂️
Don’t matter, I (we?) can’t afford either.
In terms of pricing, and more recently architecture, Corvette has really become more of a Boxster/Cayman competitor, at least in base form. Z06/ZR1 is arguably a different story, though.
Strong disagree. A base Vette would trounce a top trim Cayman. Porsche has just decided the little stud garden shield on the front is worth a minimum 40% markup on the car underneath.
Somewhat related, but I pretty much lost almost all interest in street sports cars. Gimme something substantial/functional/comfy for daily d and a dedicated track/race car.
Sports car wise, I enjoy track events or shitcan racing, so anything that’s streetable is automatically a compromise and often costlier. My perfect setup:
I think I did too much in my 20s and 30s, it's all out of my system. I want a new sports car like I want jury duty. About the only sports car I'd want to pick up at this point is a 456M, but I don't have enough car holes.

They didn’t get properly -expensive- until the mid/late 90’s.
Porsche could drop the base price by $30,000 and still make money.

I used to drive SLRs and R8s on the regular, these days I just want a barcalounger that soaks up crappy road imperfections and parks itself.
