Earl Grey tea was neither invented by nor favored by Charles Grey (2nd Earl Grey / PM in the 1830s). The practice of adding bergamot to inferior blends of black tea was disreputable and sometimes criminal at the time, and Grey almost certainly would neither have approved nor partaken.
