Like ok Occam’s razor he’s likely thinking she seems familiar because she has a few at a glance similarities to Chloe and to a lesser extent Mars. Buuuuut. Nothing in the comic is basically ever unintentional, right? So i mean, it could mean something a little more.

Like ok if we go off Lyla’s theory of pieces being taken from prior islands/attempts when making new things, and her missing pieces sets a precedent, one wonders if any prior residents made by Claire taken from could pass on tiny fragments of memories, fuzzy dream like in their clarity.

Like there could be some piece of a former friend of hers rattling around inside his head giving him distinct deja vu but isn’t strong enough to place why. Or maybe he has a piece of her himself? Or maybe he feels some connection because she’s made of similar “material?” Lot of possibilities.

Also. The dreamlike in quality comparison i made made me think of Chloe’s visions. I wonder if it’s a similar situation. Like the residents are clearly different entities than Claire and Chloe, and i think it’s safe to assume on the implication Claire makes them somehow

Laughing at the Peachykeen freaking Chloe out, “oh that clip in your ear missing was an accident,” etc but I can’t help wondering if the situation isn’t similar in some way, Claire trying to control how everyone engages with the past (or disengaged rather) to focus on the present she wants to offer

From this interaction I'm gonna assess that this is Achilles first time meeting someone else after walking down the stairs, we don't know how many he's walked down and i don't think we'll get a definite number and i don't think it matters beyond "alot" tbh.

Makes me think how empty the others were, where there other residents on those layers? Just avoiding him maybe?
We get to Ares layer however many down it is and see that it still has trees and a building(even in disrepair), albeit we only see a part.
