Thanks for reposting this. Indeed, the injured pride. Shame explains a lot, since typical reactions to shame -- belligerence, scapegoating, predeliction to violence, disparagement of elites and fuzzy thinking -- are also characterizations that fit Trumpism. And street gangs.
