I hate this. We don't have secondary quarantine to separate strays from newbies that are surrenders or indoor dumped cases.

It really is. I will protect our indoor kitties no matter what. It just kills me knowing others will risk it in the need to help.

May be time to investigate getting an outbuilding.

An outbuilding is a really good idea if you do rescue. I had one at the last place I rescued and it helped a lot with quarantining and also storing supplies.

In Iceland!?! Holy shit. I hope they release more information about this. I don't know much about Iceland but I don't think birds when I think of it. I know they have puffins and harlequin ducks. I wonder if H5N1 has been found in those populations?

It's the H5N5 varient. A lot of the gray geese have gotten it and it's spreading fast 💔 before Christmas a turkey farm had it and they put down a couple thousand turkeys. Iceland has a very large wild bird population, less people, more land means more bird species, huge cat community too
