You can sign up to some online databases like https://firsttutors.com who also take references etc and charge parents a small fee for getting your details after tutoring has been agreed on the chat function on their website. Or you can just advertise on Facebook groups or get a landing page…..
Word of mouth is always best. Agencies will rip you off. You want to maintain control.
If you're doing it as a side-hustle, make sure it's only times and locations convenient to you - and you don't have to book them for months in advance, make it easy for you to cancel if you have to.
You will get most enquiries around November year 11 because of mocks. And of course the ones who expect miracles in March of year 11. 75% of my tutees start in year 10/11, but it's so wonderful tutoring someone from year 6 up to year 11, or even a whole family for 10 years.
I started on tutorhunt but they charge parents to get details now. Word of mouth is the best way. Once you have a customer who is in all the parent WhatsApp groups, it will snowball (if you do a good job, obviously 😆).

Don't be afraid to sack the tutee if they are doing no work between sessions - just warn the parents first
And don't undersell yourself - you should charge at least £40/hour, more for A Level
But no, I tend to top out at £60
