In 2004 Aileen and her crew went to assist a fishing vessel, Gower Pride, that had suffered engine failure in rough seas. They saved two lives that night.

She was awarded an MBE in 2016 having dedicated much of her free time to saving lives at sea.

A GCSE English Language Paper included an article on her a couple of years ago and I was so fascinated by her story when I was marking the exams that I looked her up afterwards - what a hero 🦸‍♀️
