I remember really well the propaganda campaign the Bush administration promoted in the lead-up to the Iraq War. We all know how that turned out.

I fear that Trump will do something far worse, especially with J.D. Vance and Marco Rubio being the loudest China hawks, and he has the tools to do it.

Yes, definitely feels like a major qualitative shift. Biden's approach was "strategic competition", rhetoric was they didn't want a Cold War and could still cooperate when needed (despite their policy in actual practice). Trump's new admin seems to be going full mask off toward full confrontation
