The players are probably just as talented, but most of them play a me-first game, with way too many 3s. Not enough work-oriented team game. Winning over points/stats. Even Lebron plays a me-first game and he’s one of the best ever.

I disagree with most of that. The 70s NBA was a noted no defense, gunner league. Every era has had guys with outsized egos who rubbed "fans" the wrong way. But they are unquestionably more talented now. 7 footers taking and making 3s? Playing point center? All bigger, faster, stronger?
I think bigger faster stronger = more athleticism, but less strategy teamwork and game iq. Why my fave is college women (for decades, not a new opinion).
I like the women's game (absolutely a new opinion, he said sheepishly) . I see a ton if ball movement on the good NBA teams, even if it ends up being around the horn to the open 3 point shooter. Team ball us emphasized on the successful teams.
Maybe I’m biased - I’m from NY and grew up in the Reed-Debusscher-Frazier-Bradley era. Such a great team playing the ultimate team basketball. Never seen another team like it. Sorry.
Likewise an old school Knicks fan. I used to obsessively draw pictures of Clyde Frazier and styled my pitiful game after Earl Monroe when he showed up. But those great teams were considered outliers, paragons. Not everyone played like them

Why do all LeBron's teammates' 3 point stats go up when he is in? Why does Dalton Knecht get even better looks in the NBA than he did in college?
Why doesn't Harden have any rings?
