“in seeking to conflate and confuse on its centrepiece policy, the Coalition is doing little more than treating voters like mugs, assuming they'll be more interested in style over substance.”

Project budget has blown out by more than 600% and anticipated completion is anyone’s guess.
With that track record, odds of going the distance is off the charts
Not only is it more expensive and slower to build, the resulting electricity will also be more expensive than renewables and storage.
billion question.
Then add another 25 yrs to the cost timings. Big batteries already taking care of intermittent power at Collie.
Didn't say anything about AGL either who own the coal powered stations who said 'hands off'. https://www.smh.com.au/business/companies/agl-boss-says-no-to-dutton-s-nuclear-vision-for-coal-power-sites-20240315-p5fct5.html
Collie will never be a site for one of *Dutton’s Decoys*; there’s a big battery being built there that will need the existing transmission cables and there’s an inadequate water supply. All additional costs that Dutton doesn’t want.
The reason pro-nuclear advocates claim nuclear power stations can be sited at the old coal-fired sites is that it avoids the additional infrastructure costs which are significant.
Re: Collie WA, Dutton's visit exposed that he hasn't and has no intention of consulting with locals. Pure Thug on display.

nationalisation of the electricity supply, the screams from the LNP and right wing media about anti-capitalist, socialist collectivisation would be deafening.
Because it’s the LNP proposing it: crickets.
