Trump had 49.8%of the vote. Kamala Harris had 48.3%. Roughly half of Americans who voted did not want him, and the anthem is their symbol as well. I feel uncomfortable lumping them in together. Trump’s victory was not a landslide, whether you go by the Electoral College vote or the popular vote.

It was the second highest vote total by numbers in U.S. history. Part of the disinformation out there was aimed at discouraging voters. I think that spreading blame indiscriminately actually helps dictators succeed - damned if you do, and damned if you don't doesn't make people want to participate.

I can't agree. After hearing how a Korean friend had rocks thrown at him by people shouting about the Chinese government imprisoning Spavor and Kovrig, and seeing people on a Facebook feed react hysterically to the presence of 1920s Russian art, I think we need to be very specific with disapproval.
