The trick is the word “official”. It was never official. The name won a silly contest. Making things official requires boring legal steps.

I never knew it was not official. Then a new competition to rename it, officially would be in order. Or something like that.

I think, or maybe just hope, that they learned their lesson from the last naming contest. It’s just a flower garden. It doesn’t need a name.
I always secretly suspected they did not like the winning name and intentionally took no steps to make it official.
