That vocal at 2:52 is my favorite part of this song. I always wondered what Babyface’s reasoning was for keeping it.

Why didn’t he go for a more “perfect” vocal? Was it a one take situation? Was it just that he was in love with the emotion on the word “pain”?

Either way I’m glad they kept it.
