Each license level has certain restrictions as to what band you can work with it. An example is the Technician License (Entry Level) can only work the 10m band of HF (High Frequency) while a General (Mid Level) can work various parts of the entire HF band. Amateur Extra can work all amateur bands.
Yes, band and mode have PEP restrictions. Good examples are the Line A restriction that prohibits working 420-450 MHz north of that line (Roughly south of the US-Canada Border) or in Alaska within 496 miles of Russia where you can only use 1 W ERIP for operating 472 - 479 KHz
I have lots of memories of my dad in his radio room, talking to people all over the world. Apparently he won some ham awards in Canada (I forgot what they were for, and I haven’t gone through his stuff in a while.) It’s cool to see the ham numbers on plates and here too! Congrats!
Yup, got the license plate :) Also have awards mainly for working all US States in specific modes and bands, working all continents, and working 100+ countries, among others.
My friends get blown away when I show them the wire that goes across my yard and I tell them that lets me talk worldwide.
Same for me. My mother in the 60s had tons of QSL cards. I remember her staying late to talk to peoples around the world. My father also a HAM radio in the car.
