Big screen real state is nice when is in use, in any other scenario a smaller device is preferable. So a flip phone does have its advantages if done well.

Apple does what it always does, copies and improves, but never ever does things first now that Steve has left the planet. The folding screen is now ripe for apple to provide a good experience, where the android people will look around and say, "yeah, we had that two years ago"

I have an iPhone 13. Wife has a Razr foldable. There are use cases for each. It would be nice to have the option.

people mention the benefit of not having to open the flip phone to see notifications, but the Apple crowd already wears Apple watches for that. and i see a lot of flip phone apologists excusing the line that forms at the fold, but i think the Apple crowd would treat this as a defect - an applegate

yup. the flip phone fans that i’ve watched videos from are like apologizing for the creases forming. “yeahh, it’s the price to pay for having this neat technology” but you damn well know Apple fans won’t put up with it. IMO Apple actually risks brand damage/drama releasing a flip phone if it creases

I've been using a fold 4 for nearly 2 years now and I actually have found a lot of utility in it, don't know that I could go back to slab. HOWEVER, the usecases are limited, which makes the drawbacks harder to swallow. Folds are getting better each gen tho.

back then they offered a lot though — full keyboard, easy messaging, bigger screen, web browsing, etc.

there’s not much a foldable phone offers outside of being foldable…but we’ll see
