To me they come off more as fireflys or just a bug which makes me think they should either emit a small amount of light or fly near a light source

I think they might be a little big right now (maybe dropping the opacity a bit may help). Have you tried to layer these so you could have more of them and smaller variants that are further away from the camera? Another thing you could try is some subtle mist around the rocks.

Yea I have actually made them more transparent already but it doesn't show very well in a screen recording haha. I've thought about mist around the rocks! I might take a stab at that when some other things are a bit more polished.

Sorry, I didn't realise the compression was throwing it out, makes sense with how small they are. I do think the mist would help, you could also try some isolated platforms too with broken bridges and the like. Good work so far anyway.
