We're definitely going to! It's unlikely they'll cover anything that's not a plumbing leak but unfortunately with memorial Day weekend I can't check until Tuesday. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yeah, flooding gets hairy like that. You might be able to pursue action against the seller but again, flooding. But the fact that the barrier was in there and you’ve got photos is helpful
Yeah I think that action against the seller is more likely given the barrier situation. It seems pretty clear they didn't go through the work to actually waterproof the basement before installing and were probably aware of that.
Thanks I appreciate it! We might hit you up for some assistance tearing it up over the week, I think we're saying fuck it to the carpet and trashing it.
It was installed with a water barrier between the foam pad and the carpeting so we have no idea how long it's been wet and we think whoever installed it knew it was gonna get wet down there. :/
MAN...I've been through 3 floods at the old house and had to trash carpet twice and then we just did laminate cuz it won't stink or get moldy like carpet. I am so sorry dude
Ugh yeah we were talking out if we could save the carpet or replace it and it's just so expensive. We're probably just gonna trash it and paint the concrete tbh.
Feeling like perhaps there was a reason that a water barrier was installed between the foam pad and the carpet and that's so we couldn't tell there was water pooling beneath our carpet for who knows how long. Anyway I think we caught it early enough to avoid any serious mold problems at least.
BETWEEN THE FOAM PAD AND THE CARPET? NOT EVEN UNDER THE FOAM PAD????????? YOU CAN GET LEGIT WATER BARRIERS *UNDER* A FOAM PAD THAT HAS GROOVES FOR WATER TO GO UNDER IF THERE'S A LITTLE BIT OF WATER INTRUSION BUT BETWEEN IS MAKING ME INSANE
We're gonna tear all of it up and toss it, paint the concrete floor, and get some area rugs. Bummer that we're basically unfinishing the basement but rather that than one of my worst fears: mold.
Very bummed that my plan this weekend was to finally paint and decorate my little library room and now I'm gonna spend the whole weekend ripping up stinky wet foam.
