It irritates me when I’m told “perhaps he was abused himself.”
So what? It’s irrelevant to me. Many survivors go the opposite way and fiercely protect. It’s dangerously close to a phrase I detest: "hurt people hurt people." Victim-blaming, shaming language like this comes at a harmful cost. 1/
