I will not talk about 'intifada' semantics. I will not succumb to temptation again. You are all stupid about it, and for the worst reason: because you are all right, and that makes people really stubborn in their stupidity.

I have niblets who I mostly see over video calls due to distance, and their growth and advances are a constant shock compared to the bubble I live in otherwise. So the moments of “wait, I’m how old again?” are not infrequent.
After some thought a bug part of what's going on is an willingness to take responsibility for a given groups actions in perpetuating things... It's always a cycle of 'necessary' reaction
so many people are incapable of comprehending that two people who virulently disagree can both be entirely correct, but just have very different priorities
Can I gently suggest that context matters? And that if a word is used where the predominant language is English, by many people who speak English, chanted with a lot of English words like “long live the” or “globalize the”, then the common English associations with that word matter?
Also, it makes sense to look at who is leading the use of the phrase, and how they explain it. I’m irritated by others rushing in to ‘splain. I get that we want to relate to the discussion so comparisons get made to words like “Zionism”, but let’s listen to folks directly. 1/
Otherwise, people who think they are helping are just filtering a message through their own biases. I might not like WOL or Samidoun, but I want to see what they are saying unfiltered.
It’s a bit like how a native Yiddish speaker can say the word for the color black without being offensive, but if you suddenly use it when the rest of the conversation is English, it isn’t good.

You can take essays from "Judaism" in the 70s, update the language, and they are barely different from today.
It's really depressing.
(And, alas, more shocking than the original point of the thread.)

It's not a terrible feeling since most of the developments are positive.
Everyone is right... sometimes
