AI is creating a culture of fear around art. We are afraid to purchase art for unknowingly purchasing AI created content. As artists, we are terrified that our very human mistakes will be perceived as that of AI. Nobody is fucking having a good time here

I want to have hope that people can understand the reasoning behind why AI is bad if it’s explained in a non-confrontational way (though some people will feel attacked anyway), but I worry that their understanding and caring is contingent on whether they value art and the environment to begin with.

sometimes my grandmother will show me AI crochet and tell me that i should make it. like i can design patterns (amigurumi, and its been a while) but there are impossible stitches in there. i could sew multiple pieces together but at that point id much rather begin from my own sketches for control.

Don’t be surprised if there’s an surge of AI artists preying on tech-illiterate seniors for easy money with minimal effort, followed by a subsequent DEARTH of artist support when those same customers get backlash for their commission and decide it’s not worth trying to figure it out anymore.

Its already happening, and not even to illiterate seniors. You're already seeing AI users slide into people's DMs trying to get people to pay them to 'draw' their sona. I doubt many people fall for it, but I also doubt that nobody hasn't.
