Okay, this is something about the #Switch2 that actually concerns me.
Some "physical" games aren't actually physical copies - they're KEY CARDS that *download* the game to your system, and then function like physical cards to enable access.
So not even your physical library might actually be such.

You got like, the first world and a handful of levels from the first game on the cartridge, then the entire rest of the game had to be downloaded, and the cartridge was basically just a key to download and play that.
Considering how huge in file size FF7 Remake Intergrade was? Yeah… it’s likely gonna be like that.
It's basically just a continuation of that.
AKA a license that can be revoked, unlike with physical media.
If you buy a used copy of the game and the key card version is in the box of a regular version... 😬 💦
And it says in Part 2 of the article, The game itself isn't included on the game-key card, so you’ll have to download it before you can play. There is no physical game, just a 'key' for a digital copy you have to download.
Yes, I know. This isn't about it existing before.
A DIGITAL copy of a game is a LICENSE. LICENSES can be revoked and REMOVED from you.
A PHYSICAL cartridge with a DIGITAL copy means you don't actually own that game.
And Animal Crossing is one such, where there's basically no game on the launch edition past the initial tent, the rest of the island is literally inaccessible because updategating.
Unless NoJ or NoE reprinted complete editions, the game has little on it.
I don't like this either. Not one bit.
(I’m assuming the issue is size, otherwise I really don’t know what they’re doing)
with a game key-card...you own a molded piece of plastic. they are not the same.
