Jesus everyone should read it but never has a book traumatized me more. Toni Morrison does a much ch better job of conveying the horror of enslaved women than anyone else I’ve seen.

I saw the movie on Netflix and was struck by such profound hidden history. How diabolical is the killing of Native people over their control of oil and the destruction of Black WallStreet (the Tulsa Riots)? At the same time even! The American government's history is despicable.

It’s been diabolical in many ways, but more disturbing was how easily white people lined up to get a piece of the pie….but actually just steal the whole pie. Sad. The FBI was born and actually helped solve the crime. But…they sure lagged when it was more advantageous.

You are absolutely right. There were thug business men involved in the Native American’s situation. After killing so many people they were able to live their lives in peace after serving some time. Black Wall street was different.

I learned about Black Wall Street about the same time as I read this book. My heart broke. I didn’t understand until I did. It’s why they seek to ban books, make education unattainable for all, and why they cover up the truth. I am a better person for learning more but others don’t see it that way

Carter was given the Nobel peace prize in 2002 for his DECADES of promoting peace, democracy & human rights. He also built houses for the poor & helped to cure a disease in remote villages in Africa. Trump is the opposite of peace, which is why he will never get any prize for promoting violence.

This was only one of several different issued.
Just learnt yday in end of year obituaries that Lynne Reid Banks passed this year, age 94.
Her children's book The Indian in the Cupboard was a favourite of my son's. We gave him a little old wooden cupboard & a tiny antique metal Indian that Christmas.

Yes! Violence to one family in this case. There are other books I’ve read in which folks are fleeing war torn countries; such as Bee Keeper of Aleppo or Kite Runner. I doubt that, in the majority of cases, folks really want to leave their homes. They are forced out.
