I have to admit that Schumer‘s decision do not block the CR was correct. He predicted that the Trump administration would fuck up and that it was essential to keep the focus on their fuck ups. A shut down government would put the focus on the Democrats not the GOP.

The short version is that the Democrats hoped that the GOP caucus would break into the House or that the GOP Senators would have a spine.
Neither happened.
