I often see the "Just move plattforms, your followers will come with you" or "I have more engagement on her anyway" opinions or experiences on here and those are valid...but simply not true for me or other smaller artists.

I (I don't want to generalize all small artists so I don't use we) do not have more engagement on Bluesky and 80% of my followers on other plattforms won't come with me here.

I have to start from (almost) zero every time and hope that I get the right eyes to see my stuff.

I needed four years to get around 3.5K on Twitter / X and while this is no excuse not to change platforms, it is still scary.

I will likely need years to get a decent following here (and by that I mean around 2K or 3K) and I can only hope that nothing will happen to this platform till then.

I branch out quite a lot and I'm on multiple social media platforms, but I struggle equally on all of them (most under 1K following even after years).

And I try to get people to see my art, but it won't come easy to me and many other small artists.

Hopping platforms just happens so often the recent years that it's become very exhausting and draining to try and keep up with all that.

And while I try hard to be present where I can, it's difficult to manage it all.

All I'm saying is that please, try to be patient with artists when they change platforms.

I know, platforms like X (and Instagram too, because Meta) should be avoided and yes, artists should absolutely try not to support these sites.
